From family journals that were thankfully passed down to me and that i humbly am grateful for reveiled that the number one and for most charge that is given in conjunction with it is that it a secret and sacred covenant between you and good never to be disclosed except under direct commandment from God. Hyrum Andrus put it well when he said "when you reach this point in mortal probation you become very very alone" most likely in reference to you cant tell your friends family about it.

Read Denver C Snuffers book "The Second Comforter- conversing with the Lord through the veil"

PS. You dont necessarily need the "temple ordinance" of being sealed up to have your calling and election made sure. The voice of the Lord can come to you audibilly and seal you up. This is considered the more sure word of prophecy. This is also in conjunction with calling and election.

Good luck on your journey.
Pray for it, the Lord will tell how to get there. Or at least the steps to get there. Remember he wants you to have this sacred gift most likely more than you think you want it!

Please, do not contact me with more questions. The Lord can teach better than i can.

For those who are troubled by anti-mormon literature...that is the point of its creation and should be a hint at its nature. Go to the Lord yourself through personal prayer, diligent and fervent study with the intent to find the truth in your life. Show to the Lord that you want to know the truth and that you will follow Him when you get an answer. That is what helps me and importantly trying to find understanding using all the knowledge I can get and at times exercising faith in things I have had the spirit bear witness to me. However faith eventually leads to knowledge if we show that we are able to understand it and follow otherwise we will not get such knowledge. Long story short, the only way to find out is to go to the source and it is not easy at times but is worth it.

When my wife and I were newlyweds (about 30 years ago), we were in the SLC temple for a stake temple night and enjoyed having a question and answer session with the temple presidency. My wife asked how many people receive this ordinance. The answer surprised us: about seventy to eighty per year! That gave me hope -- this doesn't have to be just a "far-off" goal waiting to happen "in the next life" -- it can and does happen during this life time!

Interesting how we never hear of anyone standing up and shouting, "Its happened! I got my calling and election!" It still has a lot of mysteriousness surrounding it. My wife and think we know some people who have had this ordinance, but they never come right out and tell us. I suspect they are under an injunction not to.

I've had similar experiences and over time have learned this simple lesson: The "book" and the "color code" for communication is the Scriptures. The Gospel of piece is taught by example, love, and testimony. Doctrine and Covenants Section 4:5 sums it up this way - "And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God qualify him for the work." When we ourselves are motivated by love (as was the Savior) we are able to motivate those around us to make good, wholesome choices - including service in the Church.

Great blog. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for this post. I am a lifelong member who is struggling to find my OWN testimony. Unfortunately I am one of those who has happened upon lots of anti-mormon stuff and it has left a bad impression on me. I am on a journey to find the truth and I am beginning to take missionary discussions and starting from scratch. It is amazing how the anti-mormon stuff just taints everything.
